History
Sigma Alpha Iota was founded on June 12, 1903 at the School of Music in Ann Arbor, Michigan. There were seven founders; Elizabeth Campbell, Francis Caspari, Minnie Davis Sherrill, Leila Farlin Laughlin, Nora Crane Hunt, Georgina Potts, and Mary Storrs Andersen.
They decided that this organization would grow to spread the importance of women in music, to uphold the highest standards of music, and to further the development of music throughout the world.  Today SAI has helped to develop music throughout the world, with many chapters not only across the country, but across the globe!
Our chapter here at Miami is still fairly new to campus.  We were officially installed as a chapter on April 30th, 2011 and In just a few years we have grown into a great organization with a diverse group of wonderful women. It's amazing what a group of women wanting to share their love for music can do.
